Abstract

|
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the prevalence and risk factors of sleep disturbance among the community resident elderly.
Method: 108 elderly were included in this study and data were analyzed using descriptive statistics including x²-test, t-test and stepwise discriminant analysis.
Result: The prevalence of sleep disturbance was 59.2%. The significant variables which explain the occurrence of sleep disorder were depression, health state and age. Depression was the most important risk factor, the hit ratio of discriminant function was 63.9%.
Conclusion: From this study, we now know that it is very important to develop intervene stratege for the depression to promotion sleep of the elderly.
